Geesun, one of the CATL suppliers, settled in Zhaoqing New District on 18^TH Nov. The company invested in the construction of intelligent equipment manufacturing base for power battery production and now has officially started.

Geesun is a leading lithium equipment company in China, with a client list including CATL, Gotion and other leading new energy battery companies. The successful landing of this project provides strong support for Zhaoqing City to strengthen the complementary new energy vehicle industry chain and actively build an industrial ecology.

Geesun was founded in 2006, is one of the earliest lithium equipment enterprises in China, 14 years has been insisting on the research of lithium production equipment manufacturing, the company currently has 613 patents, more than 60% are the invention patents, with the world's leading core patents in laser, winding, lamination, etc., undertakes the national lithium battery intelligent manufacturing equipment standardization working group, and currently has more than 1,800 employees, more than 400 R&D personnel.

Zhaoqing project mainly constructs intelligent equipment manufacturing base for power battery production and manufacturing, and systematically develops and establishes industrialized flexible production lines for core sets of equipment to realize large-scale intelligent manufacturing of power batteries.

 ‘We took the initiative to find Zhaoqing.’ Chairman Rukun Yang said in an interview with Xijiang Daily in Shenzhen. Two years ago, the investment promotion team from Zhaoqing visited Geesun, but at that time, Geesun did not have expansion plan. After that, the business of the company developed rapidly, and it was hoped to find a new production base. He immediately thought of Zhaoqing: ‘Zhaoqing on the one hand introduced the CATL, on the other hand to build a new energy industry chain, it is natural to want to visit Zhaoqing.’

After visiting Zhaoqing New District, he fell in love with the place immediately. On the one hand, it was very comfortable and advanced in planning. And for another, the service was very attentive. The city leaders showed him the New District and gave him a detailed introduction of Zhaoqing's industrial policies and provided him with a very good site selection.

‘I selected the place on my first visit to the New District and haven't changed it since.’ Rukun Yang said that after determining the investment intention, Geesun and Zhaoqing New District set up a WeChat group to jointly promote landing matters and urge each other, establishing a good trust relationship.

 In order to start production as soon as possible, in August 2021, Geesun leased a 76,000 square meter plant in the Electronic Information Industry Park. At present, the plant has basically completed the installation of equipment. In October 2021, Geesun took about 210000 square meters of industrial land in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area Ecological Science and Technology Industrial Park in Zhaoqing New District. The project started on 18^TH Nov and will be built in two phases, with the first phase scheduled to be completed and put into operation by the end of 2022.

Rukun Yang further said, compared with other places, Zhaoqing most moved him is the new energy vehicle industry ‘dedicated’, ‘we are manufacturing enterprises, the most need to really do things.’

 He especially mentioned Zhaoqing's advantage of cultivating technical talents. The next 20 years will be a golden period of rapid growth in the equipment market, and the demand for manufacturing talents is very strong. In addition to high-end R&D talents, industrial technical talents above the middle level are also in urgent need of replenishment, and Zhaoqing can just provide support.

China's new energy industry is developing at a rapid pace, and lithium equipment suppliers, the most upstream of lithium batteries, are also presented with a historic opportunity. According to the equity investment bank CICC, the domestic lithium equipment industry will reach a market size of 500 billion in 2025. On this track, Chinese companies have a first-mover advantage.

Rukun Yang confidently said that many indicators of the company's products are progressing, and he repeatedly mentioned that Geesun wants to be the ‘ASML’ of the new energy industry (‘ASML’ is the world's largest manufacturer of semiconductor equipment, and is also the global semiconductor industry standard setter in the global semiconductor industry).

He said that, unlike the semiconductor industry, in the industry of lithium equipment, there is no foreign reference that can be provided, and only through the Chinese counterparts in the manufacturing process of continuous independent innovation, it is possible to promote the overall improvement of the equipment industry. ‘We are honored to stand at the forefront of the equipment industry, to solve some of the problems faced by the lithium industry, to provide support for the large-scale and intelligent production of lithium’. Rukun Yang issued an invitation to upstream and downstream suppliers in Zhaoqing, hoping that suppliers together to overcome the difficulties of the lithium equipment industry, ‘including a nut, a burr detection, all need to work hard, so as to control the stability of the whole process of manufacturing, improve the efficiency of China's lithium batteries and energy saving and environmental protection indicators, to enhance the 'Made in China ' level.’
